The Museums mission is to collect, preserve, display and interpret the heritage of the Gulf Coast. Two floors of exhibits display the history of Port Arthur and Southeast Texas from prehistoric times the present. Permanent exhibits include petroleum, maritime, decorative arts, and the Gulf Coast Hall of Fame featuring exhibits for local notable people, athletes, and musicians.
